Dear LaBellaDonna....I was making a lame attempt at humor referring to the "purse" that Tallulah Bankhead would love. I believe she once told a Catholic priest something to the effect that "Your gown is fabulous, Dahling, but your purse is on fire", as he swung an incense burner during services.

La BellaDonna...I was mostly referring to the cape/jacket combo with a kilt of added twist. I know the men wear Kilts. I've seen Scottish men wear them here. I'm fine with the Kilt. I'm even fine with capes and those types of jackets...I'm NOT fine with the PLAID cape.

Poor man wouldn't need a cape if he was wearing a great kilt. Then he could just wrap the end of his plaid around his shoulders when the need arose.

Hola to la petite chou chou. La BellaDonna, she refrains from commenting on the likelihood or desirability of encountering the plaid cape, either in Scotland or elsewhere, but the jacket and the waistcoat, they are the traditional evening attire worn by the men in their kilts, thus la petite chou chou would encounter them at any formal event in Scotland where the gentlemen were wearing kilts, AND any formal event in America, where the gentlemen, they were wearing kilts. And for the demented, there is the Folkwear pattern, for making the Prince Charlie coatee, as it is known (and should not be worn with the informal day accessories shown in the sketch):

And for the Ronikins, the "little purse" is the sporran, also part of the traditional Scottish attire, worn by civilians and soldiers alike.

La BellaDonna, she is as fond as anyone else of making the snarky fashion remarks, but she refrains from mocking the traditional garb of any country, unless the lunatic designer has done something berserk with it - such as using the traditional plaid brooch in lieu of the kilt pin, for instance.

Repulsive. Obviously designed for the runway. I doubt anyone would be walking around in Scotland seeing people dressed like that. The jacket and cape are just a bit over the top.
