Huzzah! With the arrival of Labor Day, not even the strictest martinet of fashion may tut-tut the wearing of white trousers. You can be sure that Izzy wil today be donning one of his many white pairs, which he fondly associates with Mark Twain, Tom Wolfe, and cricket flannels. Yes, keeping such pants spotless is no easy task, but no one ever said style could be achieved without risk.

    [...] As a reader kindly pointed out, Izzy demonstrated his stupendous calendrical impairment by claiming in his last post that today was Labor Day.  If he had read his calendar more carefully, he would of noticed that it announced that today was Labor Day in Mexico (and of course it’s May Day around the world).  Oy vey.  He would like to think that his blunder can be attributed to wishful thinking. To all of you who wore white trousers today as a result of Izzy’s mistake, he hopes you learned that it is not the end of the world to break certain “ironclad” rules. [...]
