One-Man Barbershop Quartet

By Izzy

Cee-Lo

Gnarls Barkley‘s Cee-Lo showed up flamboyantly retro at the MTV Movie Awards this Saturday, kitted out in knit tie, braces, walking stick, and spectator shoes. Izzy would like to note that then wearing suspenders, one’s pants are supposed to be worn at the natural waist, not at the hips, but Cee-Lo seems to enjoy flaunting his belly.

Izzy is not sure whether he should admit this or not, but at a New York hattery on Saturday he actually tried on—just out of curiosity, mind you—an identical straw boater.

  1. Tad Early Says:

That’s very good, but he could have achieved perfection with a nice linen jacket. The pocket square looks a bit silly in his shirt pocket – if he had a jacket on, he’d have had a place to put his handkerchief.

I am in awe of the boater, though. That thing is great.

  2. Cargo Says:

Agreed, with a linen jacket or even a navy blazer he’d go from ‘cool’ to ‘awesome’. Still looks good though. The brown and white spectators are the perfect choice.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, fat guys who are African-American can get away with clothing choices that would look ridiculous on fat white dudes.
