Battle of the Architects

By Izzy

Norman Foster, architect of the new Hearst Building in New York, proves himself dapper in a fitted cotton suit with very high lapels and hacked (i.e., angled) pockets, a bold checked shirt with an unusual button-down collar, and an asymmetric tie.

Whereas Richard Meier, most famous for his Getty Center in Los Angeles, opts to pop his heads out of a giant brown paper bag.

The contrast does not flatter poor Mr. Meier, who we hope will be remembered for his stunning architechtural style rather than his sadly disappointing sartorial endevors.

Re: Foster: ’s color choices complement his age, he looks solid, dignified. And also, I think, all architects must wear windowpane checked shirts, isn’t it a rule? ;-)

Re: Meier: I honestly laughed out loud after reading the “brown paper bag” comment. Maybe he’s mimicking those large swaths of material used to cover buildings during construction.
