		<description>nazi gear was modeled on the advances in military technology in world war 1 when it was noticed by german infantry that a big spike on the helmet didnt help prevent inuries! and that a "wraparound" the back of the head did help - thus similarities between the "nazi" helmet and the current US headgear. 
Darth Vader was modeled on both, Samuri and Nazi in order to maximise his "evil intent" with american audiences, and remind them of evil empires such as ww2 germany and japan.

IV owes to Kurosawa's &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051808/" rel="nofollow"&gt;HIDDEN FORTRESS&lt;/a&gt; - that Vader's helmet was inspired by samurai armor.  With the ribbing around the bottom, Galliano's helmet looks even more like a samurai helmet than Vader's did.

Me, I'm wondering when Galliano found the time to do battle with the &lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2005/11/10/26933.shtml" rel="nofollow"&gt;Cybermen&lt;/a&gt; alongside Doctor Who, as that must be where he got the tropy skull mounted on the helmet.</description>
