I think it rather interesting, after all, so much of women’s fashion sacrifices function for form, why not men’s?

It’s perfectly fine to sacrifice function for form if the form is worth the sacrifice. This was not the case.

I thought zippers were un-Amish, but buttons were okay.

I submit that the problem is the coat is too heavy for the button groupings; it needs a lighter wool, and a closer fit, to be effective.
