The Angel’s in the Details

By Izzy

Taye Diggs with pocket square

Taye Diggs deftly uses a cutaway collar and pocket square to spruce up what would have otherwise been a boring outfit.

I’m not sure cutaway collars look right unbuttoned. They are great for showing the tie knot and helping the knot to stand up and out, but unbottoned they seem off balance/disproportionately small to the labels of a suit or sport jacket. I prefer an American Spread or classic American Point. You get more shirt collar showing to work with the cuffs and body of the shirt showing. This is especially true for patterned shirts.
