The Sport of Princes
By Izzy
A suit is good for nearly any occasion, though playing cricket, or any strenuous sport, is usually not one of them. Still, Prince Charles didn’t look completely out of place taking a swing in a double-breasted suit with two-inch cuffs (a cuff size that is generally acceptable only with such a suit). Izzy especially appreciates the understated tie, something that is all-too-rare in the U.S.

I take issue with your characterization of cricket as either “strenuous” or a “sport”.

What exactly is your “issue” Alex? Are you intimating sarcastically yet lightheartedly that cricket is neither?
As a citizen of the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago well do I remember the days when the three-day and five-day test matches would bring excitement to the whole island. Of course the West Indies team was dominant in those days and we literally thrashed bigger and more ominous teams__New Zealand, Australia, India, South Africa and England among them. Those matches generated as much, if not more excitement than the Super Bowl or the World Series.
I miss those glory days of the past. Times have changed and the sport, yes, sport has taken on a different dynamic. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I have since adopted baseball as my surrogate sport. Guess why Alex? Because it was the only one that resembled cricket (which by the way preceded the newer baseball) and also I have made the good ole U S of A my home since 1980.
As a child who toodled with bat and ball and tried to evade fastballs and spinners while trying to protect my wicket, I can assure you a great deal of athleticism is needed to excel at cricket. It is indeed a strenuous sport. And in agreement with Izzy, a suit is not the garb of choice for this pastime. But Prince Charles does look good nevertheless.
