Overly Big Willie Style

By Izzy

Will Smith in three-piece suit

While attending the premier of his latest movie, Will Smith boldly wore an unusual three-piece, peak-lapel suit with a shepherd’s check and black detailing around the button holes.  Unfortunately, the gape in the in shirt collar and the billowing fabric in his vest make it look like his outfit was a cheap formal-wear rental, unlike the custom job it presumably was.

Even though the pattern of the suit is a little more bold and uncommon, it is still a very elegant look. The solid color white shirt and solid color necktie gives this outfit a classy look. Patterns are only to be found in the suit.

The pattern is actually nothing new. It has been quite popular in the 70s for mens suits. What gets your attention on the suit is the extreme color contrast of white and black. Less bold is a lighter contrast of tan and chocolate brown, or gray and black.

    Thanks for posting this!

  2. Evan Rose Says:

I’ll bet a dollar that it’s a Tom Ford suit. Brad Pitt has been been wearing something similar recently, also well intentioned but poorly executed.

  3. Downindixie Says:

Yep, that’s a Tom Ford suit alright. David Beckham had on the exact same pattern but just in the coat & waistcoat(Black trousers).

Bring back Fresh Prince of Bel Air!

I prefer this look to those dreadful shrunken suits. *Ugh*
