Why would Ewan Mcgregor ride a motorcycle from Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa? Some say for charity, others say for the thrill of it. Izzy thinks it was to get that hair.

What the Slush Fund Is For
Ever a sucker for off-season deals, Izzy just found these wing-tip boots on sale at Brooks Brothers. They’re ideal for those looking for dress boots that can be worn in foul, wet weather.

The Waistcoats Are Coming
If one’s not careful, the wrong vest can make one look like a fuddy-duddy or seventies throwback. Thus, Izzy was pleased to see the youthful but scholarly vests J. Crew is offering for the new schoolyear, including this herringbone number in a soft wool.

Good Cop, Kitty Cop
According to news reports, misbehaving Thai cops are going to be forced to wear a pink Hello Kitty armband as a mark of shame. (Although the articles doen’t say so, it would appear that virtually all rule-breaking Thai police must be men.) The armband featuring the Japanese feline character is intended to emasculate, but Izzy wonders whether it will merely cause onlookers to recognize that the wearer is a rogue tough-guy (who perhaps drives this car).
In any event, the miscreant/Hello Kitty combo has already been perfected.

Libyan Glam
Still fabulous after all these years, Muammar al-Gaddafi, the world leader/rock star with the most glamorous backup group/bodyguards in the business, zhuzzes up his white suit/black shirt/wrap-around shades combo with a sash and a giant brooch of Africa, which he apparently has in multiple colors.
Izzy knows what French President Nicolas Sarkozy (who has quite the narrow lapel, by the way) is thinking: Is that a botched perm?

La Vita e Bella
Modernist film direttore Michelangelo Antonioni has faded to black. Although his movies were often studies in ennui, his attire never bored. As this circa 1960 photo proves, Antonioni was graced with that innate ability, so common among Italians, to combine patterns with panache. Note especially his horizontally-striped square tie, a few of which Izzy himself has been sporting lately.
